Whiskey or Whisky!!
Whiskey refers to bourbon, rye, Scotch and other liquors distilled from a mash of grain, while whisky specifically connotes those from Scotland. So anything that says made in America or any other nation but spells Whisky. You know you are duped.
1. Not all the Whiskey taste the same :
To a novice this might be true. Most of us have first experience of Whiskey by stealing it from dad's cabinet . Gulping it down without knowing what's the quality . Some harsh whiskey that spoiled your evening and you promised yourself never have whiskey again.
Not true. Several factors affect and influence the flavor profile of a whiskey, type of grain, water source, geography, production methods and cask management or maturation, duration . The only difference is a little education that will make you a appreciate it better and understand the difference between a cheap blend and a fine whiskey.
2. This is how it should taste .
Some experts must have told it has to taste like chewed tobacco or a hint of dark chocolate or metallic. Don't feel you are doing it wrong. Tasting is subjective.Just feel the right taste that it gives and the aroma it fills you with.
Again a lot of factors affect is it a fruity process, spicy, smoky, peaty and floral . You can create you our personal taste or aroma notes. Feel if any prominent spice resonates more with you on the palate.
3.Price is equal to Quality.
Not necessarily. Quality is a matter of personal taste and is influenced by who you’re drinking with and where. But there is no guarantee you’ll like an expensive whiskey more than you will an inexpensive one. The price reflects rarity, how long the distillery has had to hold on to the whiskey and the cost of the packaging.
4.Age is equal to Quality.
This is perhaps the most debated topic. Older whiskey are usually, but not always, better. And there is a limit to how long a spirit can age. Too long and the original spirit character is dominated by flavors coming from the wood. But for many consumers, the age is really a justification for the price they paid.
And this is why I prefer Black Dog by United Spirits. The scotch is so purely blend, taste is amazing, beautiful color, its smoky, spicy.
I love it! Unwind and Relax take a peg of Black Dog Scotch smell it submerge in the aroma, take a sip , savor it . Don't forget to enjoy it. Make your own interpretations write down if you have to start cultivating the habit of tasting whiskey.
