Dreams About Being Naked

In a piece headed "Dreams About Being Naked: Dream Meanings Explained", Holly Quinn writes that "While dream analysis is highly subjective, this post might provide some insight into why this dream occurred or is recurring." Well it is far more likely to tell you something about her and her "expert" Richard Nicoletti, a Jungian psychotherapist.

Dream analysis stems entirely from the prejudice of the analyser and says nothing about the dreamer, how can it, they don't know the dreamer or of their circumstances. As nakedness causes fear in some people they will assume that dreaming about nakedness must come from some undesirable or frightening source. Nicoletti writes "You may need to be taken down a peg", giving an interesting view of his own self image, perhaps he fears his own self importance? Others are very insecure about their bodies so will interpret naked dreams as indicating vulnerability.

I learnt this years ago when I read an "expert analysis" of why people dream about spreading their arms and flying like a bird. The analysis centred on fear, falling, danger and vulnerability. To me, someone who flies light aircraft, flying is a pure joy and the few occasions I have been lucky enough to remember such a dream it has filled me with envy for the birds. No fear, just the purest fun.

What these so called "dream analysers" will not accept is that not everyone suffers from their hang-ups, they assume that everyone thinks like them, scared to be nude, scared to fly, scared to live. To some of us who celebrate the freedom of nakedness, naked dreams are more likely to show the desire to be free from society's restrictions.
